Former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and former Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly boss Kojo Bonsu have announced their intentions to contest former President John Dramani Mahama for the slot.
Mr. Mahama who has hinted at contesting in an interview with NBS TV is quoted to have said “My country has given me so much, educated me, and made me who I am. So if the party lets me stand, I will. The main priority is winning the election come 2024, and if the party decides that I or someone else should stand, it’s all fine with me”
The majority of NDC members including some former Ministers, MPs and some party executives believe only John Dramani Mahama can win power for the NDC in the 2024 general elections.
Human Rights Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu speaking at TEIN Program in Obuasi KNUST Campus said NDC members who have presidential ambitions can only achieve their dreams after the end of office of former President John Dramani Mahama.
“NDC is ready for power in the 2024 general elections and we don’t have time for destructors who want to destruct the focus of the party . Let no one deceive you that the NDC is a democratic party and therefore everyone can contest. We believe in John Dramani and he will secure power for NDC in the 2024 elections. Those who are lacing their boots should wait for 2028 general elections”.
“NPP and Nana Addo are running away from their own promises because they gave Ghanaians those promises to deceive them for their votes. NDC is the only political party that thinks about the development of this country” he said.
