The Minister of Information Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has reiterated the New Patriotic Party government’s commitment to helping needy students to acquire students loans without a guarantor as a necessary requirement. He said this in explanation to what the NPP has in its 2020 manifesto under the education sector. The NPP 2020 Manifesto was launched at the University of Cape Coast last Saturday.
According to Mr. Oppong Nkrumah, students who are in Colleges of Education are not part of this particular students loan, since they are already enjoying allowances. But expanded further that, students who shall gain admissions to tertiary institutions but cannot afford to pay their fees are those who are being considered for such an opportunity by government come 2021and beyond.
When asked about how government was going to track such students to pay back their loans, the minister of information expounded that, with the advent of the biometric data gathered through our national ID system, “your finger print is a guarantor on its own”.
