Non-Teaching Staff of Colleges of Education call off strike

Members of the Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana have called off their strike which started on Monday, April 11, 2022.

This was after a meeting with the National Labour Commission (NLC) and the Fair Wages Commission on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

The Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana are demanding the correction of wrong placement of First Degree Holders, Non-payment of migration arrears, exclusion of payment of Generic Allowances, partial payment of Office Holding Allowances and non-payment of Interim Market Premium Arrears.

Speaking to 3FM’s Sunrise hosted by Alfred Ocansey on Thursday, President of the Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana, Frederick Forkuo Yeboah, explained that “we were not surprised about the outcome of the meeting”.

“We were supposed to meet them with the government to resolve an issue but they were there to buy time”.

He said “the commission said we should go back and sit with them [Fair Wages Commission] and report back in one week”.

“The National Council met last night and we have decided to suspend this strike pending the meeting with the Fair Wages Commission and then NLC. That is the decision of the National Council. We are going to go back to work and we shall meet the NLC next week”.
